“Hello, friend! Hello, friend? That’s lame.”
-Elliot Alderson, Mr. Robot-
This is my first post since a long time ago. I used to have a few articles in this blog, but unfortunately I have deleted all of the previous posts. The previous blog were too random, at least in my opinion. I want to make a personal website or personal blog that way more organized and way more inspiring. I wish :D. So, here’s the idea. In the previous blog (actually, it was the same blog with this one, but I deleted all of the contents), I wrote everything in Bahasa Indonesia, my mother tongue. Now, I want everything is written in English. It doesn’t mean that I don’t love my national language, but it is more because of the necessity. For your information, I’m going to pursue my Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in United Kingdom (UK), and I realize that I have a terrible writing skill. Once, one of my friends, a general practitioner medical doctor, told me how ineffective and inefficient I am when it comes to writing. He said that it was because of my old-fashioned way when I constructed the paragraphs. When I was writing an English article, I imagined all of the sentences in Bahasa Indonesia and then translated those sentences into English. It’s super ineffective and you will find the paragraph which you had constructed will sound awkward! The proper way to write in English, based on his opinion, is directly thinking in English. It seems impossible at first, but eventually when you start reading a lot of news articles (such as TIME, The Guardian, Business Insider, Telegraph, The Economist, New York Times, or do you guys have any other idea?), the sense of thinking in English will be built and sharpened. Based on the presented premise, the main purpose of this blog reincarnation is to increase my writing skills. You guys, as the readers, will see me grow stronger and bigger time to time. 😀
For the first article, I have given you the precautions, so please don’t judge me! 😛 I hope I can write a new article soon. I think about my journey to get my a Ph.D studentship in University of Southampton, UK. It’s a precious experience worth to share, I guess.
See you!
